Father of MSU's Dantonio Dead At 86
ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Justin A. Dantonio, the father of Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio, has died. He was 86.
Michigan State confirmed Justin Dantonio's death Monday. The coach's father "peacefully passed" on Sunday, according to an obituary provided by the school that included details from the Snouffer funeral home in Zanesville, Ohio.
Mark Dantonio left the Spartans recently to be with family in Zanesville while his father underwent an unspecified medical procedure. He is expected to hold his weekly news conference in East Lansing, Mich., on Tuesday before returning to Ohio for funeral services.
Mark Dantonio is expected to be back with the 17th-ranked Spartans when they open the season Friday night against Youngstown State.
