Fate Of Pontiac's Police Dept. Still Unsure
Oakland County commissioners will take a closer look Wednesday at a proposed contract to provide police services to the city of Pontiac.
Pontiac Emergency Financial Manager Michael Stampler is the man in charge of getting the city's finances back on track. In a budget cutting move, he requested that the Sheriff's Department take over city policing duties, and says more layoffs are coming without the contract.
The city is expected to present an alternative plan when a county committee takes it up Wednesday. A vote by the full board of commissioners is expected next week.
