Farmington Hills Firefighters Battle Golf Course Blaze
Thirty firefighters battled single digit temperatures, wind, ice and a challenging blaze, Monday, at Copper Creek Golf Course in Farmington Hills.
The late afternoon fire at the course's maintenance and storage building left the entire structure completely destroyed.
Officials say Farmington Hills firefighter sarrived quickly and began to make an aggressive interior attack on the fire. Additional crews identified fire not only above, but below the interior crews battling the blaze inside and quickly recognized this to be a safety issue.
All crews were forced to evacuate the building and fight the fire from the exterior, as structural members quickly began to fail.
Lelli's on the Green, a popular restaurant located adjacent to the storage building was forced to close because of the fire, but did not sustain any fire damage.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation, Tuesday.
