Fanfare Surrounds Nordstrom Rack Opening In Novi

NOVI (WWJ) There is a lot of fanfare in Novi Friday morning as bargain shoppers have a new place to go at the West Oaks shopping plaza -- Nordstrom Rack.

Kate Spade, Free People, and Michael Kors are just a few of the premium brands that will be offered at the Nordstrom discount store. Prices promise to be up to 70 percent off regular retail.

For example, a Calvin Klein faux leather skirt was marked $19; a Kate Spade handbag was $80.

They carry 48 of the top 50 brands represented at tony retailer Nordstrom, which has storefronts at Somerset Collection, Partridge Creek and 12 Oaks.

"We work directly with those brands, so the items may not be exactly the same, but the brands are pretty similar across both stores," said store spokeswoman Jessica Canfield.

One of the best parts? Aisles and aisles of designer shoes at a steep discount.

"I can confidently say that we have a great shoe selection at the Rack, as well. That's my favorite department to start in," Canfield said.

Tote giveaways and a raffle for gift cards greeted shoppers this morning lined up for the brand new Nordstrom Rack store in Novi.
