Birmingham Hosts Screening Of 'Family Weekend' Film Shot In Macomb County
BIRMINGHAM (WWJ/AP) - A film that was shot in Michigan and stars Matthew Modine and Kristin Chenoweth will screen this weekend at a theater in Birmingham.
The film will be showing at the Birmingham 8 Theatre Friday through April 4. On Saturday, however, movie-goers can meet the film's director Benjamin Epps for a question-and-answer session, followed by an after-party, at Dick O'Dow's starting at 9:30 p.m.
Much of "Family Weekend" was filmed at a home in Macomb County's Harrison Township. The movie also features Olesya Rulin, Joey King and Shirley Jones. According to the film's website, "Family Weekend" is about 16-year-old girl who takes her parents hostage after they miss her big jump-roping competition.
The film's tagline is: "If a family doesn't stick together, sometimes you have to use a little tape."
Some suburban Detroit high schools were also used as shooting locations. The Macomb County Film Office assisted the production in securing locations, props and extras for the crowd scene.
