Family Pleads For Tips To Find 16-Year-Old Detroit Boy's Killer
DETROIT (WWJ) - Family and friends are pleading with the public for tips in the unsolved murder of a 16-year-old boy.
Jesse Boswell was on his way to a friend's graduation party when he was killed at around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, 2015, on Detroit's east side.
Police said Boswell was walking to a friend's car he'd borrowed when he was ambushed unknown gunman and shot multiple times, outside the Clinton House apartments at 99 Kenilworth, between Woodward and John R.
Boswell was attending school at George Washington Carver in Highland Park with plans to continue his education in criminal justice and become a police officer. He enjoyed music and writing rap songs and was a member of City of Hope Church in Detroit.
"I'm looking for help to find the person that killed my son, my old child," said his mother, Monique Boswell, at a news conference Tuesday. "That was the worst day of my life to receive that phone call, saying he's no longer here."
"I pray that you turn yourself in, give me justice, my family justice as well. Just please help; anyone, please, call in and let's get this person of the street," she said. "I need justice so I can sleep at night and try to move on with my life."
Cousin Brandy Blanks had this message for the teen's killer:
"Whoever did this, you're gonna get caught; it's gonna catch up to you eventually. So just turn yourself in, and just get it over with," Blanks said. "You told somebody; somebody knows something, and it's gonna get to the police, it's gonna get in the right hands, and you're gonna get caught eventually."
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest in this case. If the tip comes in before midnight on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, there is an additional $1,000 reward, raising the total to $3,500.
