Family Organizes Fund For Cass Tech Senior's Funeral
Ariel Lombard, the 17-year old Cass Tech senior who collapsed and died at the school earlier this week, will be laid to rest Monday.
Lombard's aunt, Katrina Stokes, said that in this sad moment it is important to remember Ariel as "a young lady who had a wonderful fulfilling life."
Ariel was a vibrant presence at the school, involved activities including cheerleading, softball, National Honors Society, and pep club. Stokes also said Lombard was an outgoing student who wanted to become an anesthesiologist.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at Little Rock Baptist Church in Detroit. The family has set up a fund to pay for funeral costs, and is asking the public for help. Donations can be made to Bank of America in Ariel's name.
Stokes added that "whatever funds are remaining after the funeral arrangements are paid for … would go to the Cass Tech senior class of 2011 in Ariel's name."
Family members are still awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death.
