Family Injured In Rollover On US-23
TYRONE TWP. (WWJ) - Livingston County authorities says they're learning more about the chain of events leading up to a serious roll-over crash on US-23 that injured a family of four.
Michael Walt of Burton, along with his two daughters and a grandchild, were in the car on the way back from Erie Pennsylvania when the accident occurred.
"We believe that he either fell asleep or had some type of medical situation," said Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte. "We had the car at about 112 miles an hour when it left the roadway."
Bezotte said Tara Walt tried to wake her father up before the car rolled over.
"Tara woke up right at the time that the baby started crying," said Bezotte. "The car was accelerating … and then shortly thereafter the car flipped over ."
A teenager was air-lifted to the hospital with serious injuries. The one-year-old was in a child seat in the back and wasn't injured.
