Family Asking For Help Locating Son, Missing Since New Year's Eve

DETROIT (WWJ) - A local father says his son has been gone since New Year's Eve and the family is greatly concerned.

James Mintz says his son left their home on December 31 and has been spotted in the neighborhood -- but not for days.

Mintz says his son, Jerelle Eric-Lynn Mintz, became agitated and left on foot that night after an argument.

Mintz says Jerelle suffers from cognitive impairment, they just want to know he is okay.

"He just need to contact us and let us know where he is, because we don't know if someone is taking advantage of him and hurt him up or whatever, because this is something he's never did before," said James Mintz.

Mr. Mintz says Jerelle was upset and left home without his ID and any money, but a local store owner was last seen by a neighborhood store owner.

"The store owner said that he did come by there New Year's Eve night, about the same time he left home and hadn't nobody seen him since."

Jerelle is 23-years-old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 140 pounds with a dark complexion.

If you have any information about Jerelle you are asked to contact the Sixth Precinct at 313-596-5640.
