Families Left Homeless After Plymouth Apartment Fire
The American Red Cross and Salvation Army are working hand-in-hand to help residents left homeless by a massive early morning fire.
The blaze broke out, Thursday, at the Park Manor Apartments in Plymouth.
As investigators look for the fire's cause, Red Cross spokesperson John Mozina tells WWJ Newsradio 950 many people are now in need.
"People who have never had to ask for help before, don't know where to start. We're the starting point. We make sure that they get put in contact with the right organizations, the right entities to help them get back on their feet after a disaster," Mozina said.
"In situations like this, I think it's good that we can come together and help people who need it. The Salvation Army has reached out and is providing shelter to all of the affected individuals and families and the Red Cross is taking over the needs for food and clothing," he said.
Authorities say there were only minor injuries as a result of the fire.
Plymouth City Manager Paul Sincock says the 24-unit complex is a total loss. The complex was built back in the 1950′s and was not up to code.
Only minor injuries were reported.
