Facebook Offers Support Messages, Updates On Cipriano Survivors

FARMINGTON HILLS (CBS Detroit) A stunned community united when Robert Cipriano was killed, allegedly in a brutal baseball bat attack led by his son. An estimated 1,500 people turned out for his funeral.

And now Facebook is letting the virtual community unite, too.

A Facebook page has been created by family and friends of the Cipriano family to update supporters on the conditions of Rose and Salvatore Cipriano and let the public leave messages of prayer and hope. See the page HERE.

The family of Bay City native Rose Cipriano, whose maiden name was Trahan, weigh in on the page, telling upbeat stories about hospital visits and thanking the public for love and support.

"Rose was serenaded with some guitar/harmonica music from her big brother Pat today. She was smiling and even tapping her foot a bit. Salvatore has a baseball in each hand," family member Ariel Trahan wrote on the page. "Thank you all for your love and support!!"

On Tuesday, Beth Trahan wrote, "Waiting for Rose in surgery. Will update as soon as I can. Tore awake, holding the baseballs and responding ..yay..Tore, go buddy!"

"Keep the prayers coming," she added Wednesday night.

Mother and son Rose and Salvatore Cipriano were left in critical condition at Botsford Hospital when Tucker Cipriano, 19, allegedly went on a rampage in their quiet suburban house, beating his father to death, and badly injuring his brother and mother. Only his 8-year-old sister Isabella and 17-year-old brother Tanner, who hid during the attack, were unharmed.

News has emerged this week, reportedly from police reports that haven't been released, saying Cipriano, high on a drug named SPICE, pre-planned the attack with his pal Mitchell Young, 20, to get money from a safe in the home. Cipriano allegedly broke in through the garage at 2:30 a.m. April 16, beat his father when he confronted them in the kitchen and ordered Young to hit his mother to keep her silent as she begged him to stop.

Salvatore reportedly woke and tried to stave off his brother with a BB gun while Tanner hid under a desk in his room and dialed 911.

Cipriano, who had been kicked out of the house after repeated run-ins with the law, and Young have both been charged with first-degree premeditated murder and felony murder. Their next court date is May 23 in Oakland County Circuit Court.
