GRAND RAPIDS (AP) - Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has helped dedicate a state-of-the-art bus transit facility in western Michigan.
LaHood was joined by U.S. Sen. Carl Levin and Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell at the renovated and expanded Wealthy Street Operations Center in Grand Rapids.
The $32.4 million transit center renovation and expansion was funded with $10.6 million from the federal Recovery Act and an additional $17.4 million in federal transit funds.
The facility's size was doubled and now has room for nearly 180 buses.
