Exam Date Set For Couple In Royal Oak Murder
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - A preliminary examination date of January 27 has been set for the couple accused in last month's brutal murder of an 80-year-old Royal Oak woman.
Defense Attorney Jack Holmes had been appointed to represent 40-year-old Tonia Watson who is charged with felony murder, along with a slew of other charges.
He said it's a very involved case.
"There's many issues and there's lots and lots of material," Holmes told reporters Friday. "We were just handed the discovery materials by the prosecutor's office ... and there's more to come. So, there's more to look at."
On November 20, Nancy Dailey was found bound to a chair with her throat slit. Watson and co-defendant Alan Wood, 48, charged with first-degree premeditated murder, are believed to have raked Dailey's lawn and then returned to her home to rob and kill her. They allegedly took her credit and ATM cards.
The pair faces life in prison if convicted.
