Ex-Spartans Football Standout Garnett Dead At 38
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Ex-Michigan State football defensive standout Reggie Garnett has died of complications from diabetes. He was 38.
Michigan State says Garnett died Tuesday. He'd been living in Dearborn.
Spartans coach Mark Dantonio says Garnett was "a tremendous player and a true Spartan" who stayed close to the team after finishing school.
Garnett was a linebacker and four-year starter at Michigan State during George Perles coaching era. He was Big Ten freshman of the year in 1993 and led the team in tackles in 1995 with 111.
