Ex-Scoutmaster Charged With Molesting Boys
A 49-year-old Canton man has been charged with molesting two boys while he was a Boy Scout troop leader.
Canton police say William Hoefling faces 10 charges, including child sex abuse and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Investigators say Hoefling initiated contact with the boys, who were 14 to 16 years old.
Investigators say the incidents came to light after one of the boys mentioned the abuse during a counseling session.
A scout executive in Detroit said Hoefling was scoutmaster of Troop 781, which meets in Plymouth.
