Ex-Mayor's Wife Speaks Out In Upcoming Kilpatrick Film
DETROIT (WWJ) - Think you know Kwame Kilpatrick? In an upcoming documentary, Detroit's former Mayor will tell what is, according to him, the "real story."
Posted on "YouTube" is an 80 second video preview for "The Real Kwame Kilpatrick."
The clip opens with narration by Kilpatrick in which he asks the viewer to "open your mind," followed by part of an interview with his wife, Carlita, talking about what it was like when her husband went to prison. "... they mailed me his suit," she said. "I was sad, he was gone. And that suit kinda still had his cologne in it. But ... I knew he'd be home."
According to YouTube, the film, by Ayanna Ferguson Kilpatrick, Timothy Smith and Tobias Smith, will be "available soon." Kilpatrick was promoting it on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
News of the movie comes less than a year following the release of his book, "Surrendered! The Rise, Fall, and Revelation of Kwame Kilpatrick," in which the ex-Mayor offers his point of view on a number of topics, including the scandal that led to his fall from power.
Kilpatrick now lives with his family in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, Texas. He is awaiting trial later this year on federal corruption charges.
