Ex-Felons Get Second Chance

Detroit City Council votes to give ex-felons a second chance.  WWJ Newsradio 950's Florence Walton reports ex-felons will no longer be asked on their applications for city employment if they have a criminal past.

"Right now we're looking at leveling the playing field, as far as applications are concerned, we'll be judged on our character rather than based on our crime." Ex-felon Kelsey Ellis, told WWJ's Walton.

The ordinance takes immediate effect. The ordinance puts Detroit in line with several cities across the state and country that have already removed the ex-felon question from applications.
