Ex-Detroit Deputy Mayor Facing Airport Gun Charge
ROMULUS (AP) - Former Detroit deputy mayor Anthony Adams faces a gun charge after a handgun was found in a carry-on bag at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Wednesday that Anthony Adams is charged with misdemeanor weapons possession.
Worthy says a security X-ray machine at the airport in Romulus west of Detroit detected the gun on Oct. 18.
A pre-trial hearing is scheduled Nov. 29 in 34th District Court in Romulus.
Adams is a lawyer and served as deputy mayor during Kwame Kilpatrick's tenure as mayor. He resigned last year as Detroit school board president.
The Associated Press left an email Wednesday seeking comment from Adams.
