Evidence Shows Same Gun Used In Multiple Random Shootings
PONTIAC (WWJ) - Oakland County investigators have now confirmed, through ballistic evidence, that the nearly two dozen shootings at vehicles in Southeast Michigan have come from the same firearm.
The Oakland County Forensic Lab has determined, through ballistic evidence, that all bullets fired in the shootings come from the same firearm.
In addition, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said they have confirmed one additional shooting.
"We've confirmed one more individual car has been added to the list, so, we're at 23," said Bouchard. "Another person, in the same time frame mind you, between October 16 and October 18 ... so, not a new one since the 18th still."
Investigators are now combing through nearly 400 tips they've received since the shootings began.
"We're running down tips, obviously, with the tax force. We're staying on it and just keep encouraging people to call in if they have tips. The reward's now up to $12,000 -- so we'd love to have any information they have, no matter how small," Bouchard said.
The shootings took place, mainly along I-96, in Oakland, Livingston, Ingham, and Shiawassee Counties. No injuries have been reported.
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
