State Sets Green Chemistry conference: The 2011 Michigan Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference, "Advancing Innovation for a Sustainable Future," will be held Oct. 27 at the UM's North Campus Research Complex, Ann Arbor. For researchers, chemists, engineers, industry CEOs, students, educators, entrepreneurs, policymakers -- anyone interested in advancing innovation for a sustainable future in Michigan -- this conference is the opportunity to hear and share ideas on how we can best "green up" Michigan through green chemistry and engineering. Conference attendees will learn how green chemistry and engineering not only protects human health and the environment, but can also help businesses create new markets, reduce costs, and gain a competitive edge. MCWT Sets Technology Career Summit: The Michigan Council of Women in Technology will host its Sixth Annual MCWT Technology Career Summit Saturday, Sept. 17 at Oakland Community College. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to HP's view of the future of technology, hear why mobile apps are the bright future for developers, see how nanotechnology drives development of robotics, discuss how companies are industrializing innovation - and how it is different than before, sharpen your negotiating skills, learn what IT skills will be crucial in building your career in mobile technology, hear about how technology supports the federally mandated move to a national digital health record system and what it will mean to patient care in your neighborhood, and question a panel of experts representing companies to watch in Michigan. This is MCWT's must-attend professional development event of the year. It's perfect for exploring fast-growing careers, developing business and leadership skills, and interacting with experts that develop cutting-edge, emerging technologies. As in past conferences, the pace will be brisk, the topics exciting and the networking opportunities invaluable. Michigan CEOs Set 'Summit': Business Leaders for Michigan, the state's business roundtable, today announced plans to host a Michigan CEO Summit on March 15 at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. The Michigan CEO Summit is the first of its kind. Never before have so many of the state's top CEOs gathered to address the issues facing Michigan's future. Industry leaders will outline paths to rebuilding Michigan's economy; identify industries where Michigan is best positioned to lead the nation; explain the role of innovation in growing new job sectors; and discuss how private sector investment can help drive the economy in communities across the state.
