Capital Area IT Council part of Greater Lansing Business Showcase: The Capital Area IT Council has partnered with the GLBM once again this year to present at their upcoming "Greater Lansing Business Showcase" event on Thursday, Oct. 28. Keeping with the GLBM's theme of "economic gardening," the IT Council's presentation will be entitled, "Market(ing) Fresh: A Panel Discussion on How Leading Organizations Use Technology in Their Marketing Strategies" (please reference the invite below for more information.) During this 90-minute program, we will look at how several prominent end user organizations are enhancing their traditional marketing efforts with social media, increased web presence, and other emerging technologies. NanoBio CEO to Present To Gates Foundation: Ann Arbor-based NanoBio Corp. announced that company founder and chief executive officer James R. Baker, Jr., M.D., will participate in the 6th Annual Grand Challenges in Global Health Meeting, taking place from Oct. 25-27 in Seattle, Wash., to present data illustrating the potential of the company's nanoemulsion-based needle-free intranasal vaccine platform. GCGH supports research projects that aim to achieve scientific breakthroughs needed to prevent, treat, and cure diseases of the developing world, which lacks the infrastructure to provide adequate healthcare to a population that is at risk for highly transmissible diseases. One goal of the GCGH is to improve the delivery and stability of vaccines to make them easier to transport and quicker to administer. At the 2010 Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), NanoBio presented Phase 1 clinical data demonstrating that the company's nanoemulsion-adjuvanted intranasal flu vaccine, NB-1008, is safe, well tolerated and elicits both mucosal and systemic immune responses following a single intranasal vaccination in a study of 199 healthy adults. This successful first-in-man study of NanoBio's intranasal vaccine program provides a clear pathway for further development in influenza, as well as other diseases with unmet medical needs. Dr. Baker will highlight the Phase 1 data during his presentation at the GCGH conference and will speak to the potential of nanoemulsion-based needle-free vaccines to address pandemic health concerns in developing countries. Compuware Gomez offers load testing Webinar: Gomez, the Web performance division of Detroit-based Compuware Corp. (Nasdaq: CPWR), announced a Webinar featuring performance testing expert Scott Barber. The Webinar, titled "Application Performance Testing: From Concept to Gravestone," will look at performance and load testing as integral parts of the application lifecycle. New Horizons Partners For Customer Event: Livonia-based New Horizons Computer Learning Centers of Detroit, part of the world's largest IT training company, will hold their fifth annual technology event, "TechKNOWLEDGEy 2010: Learn IT. Use IT." on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at the New Horizons location in Livonia. TechKNOWLEDGEy 2010 is a free, one-day event aimed at helping business and technology professionals understand how various technologies can assist them in running their businesses more effectively and efficiently.
