TiE Coming To West Michigan: TiE, the organization founded as The Indus Entrepreneurs but which now goes by Talent, Ideas and Enterprise, is now moving to West Michigan. The organization was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley. TiE's mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking and education. The group is hosting a networking reception on Tuesday, March 13 for individuals doing business globally or with business interests tied to Southeast Asia. The event begins with networking at 5:30 p.m., a speech from Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell at 6:30, and Michigan Accelerator Fund managing director Dale Grogan speaking at 6:45 p.m. The venue is the University Club, Suite 1025, 111 Lyon St. NW, Grand Rapids. Medical Device Designer To Speak At Lawrence Tech: David Wright, CEO of a medical device engineering and design company, will speak on "Learning to Learn" at the Entrepreneurial Lecture Series on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. in Lear Auditorium (T429) of the University Technology and Learning Center at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 W. 10 Mile, Southfield. The event is free and open to the public. Wright has more than 40 United States patents and 32 years of experience in product design and management in medical device companies. In 2001, he founded Wi Inc., of Englewood, Colo., an award-winning medical device engineering and design company. His success was not easily won, however. Wright discusses the challenge of having a learning disability and how he thrived by learning to learn at Lawrence Tech. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1986. Laurel Park Sets Small Biz Show, Vendor Space Available: Laurel Park Place will be hosting a Small Business and Home Based Business Show March 2 - 4. Vendor space is available to assist owners to promote their smaller business and home based business to build customer clientele. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business to a larger audience, meet directly with new potential customers and sell your products and services on-site. The event will take place over a three day weekend and will be held during mall hours, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. A fee of $150 will be the charge for set up and includes an eight-foot table with tablecloth and skirting and one chair in the booth area.
