DTE, ESD Offer Tour Of Energy Smart Home Ideas: You don't have to go far or break the bank to turn your house into an energy smart home. Take the first step towards making your home more energy-efficient by attending The Engineering Society of Detroit's special, behind-the-scenes tour of the DTE Energy Technology Demonstration Center. There are two tour times, 9 a.m. at noon, at DTE Energy Headquarters in downtown Detroit. The Technology Demonstration Center was built to create an educational environment for customers, employees, and shareholders to see the value of technologies DTE Energy has invested in. The demonstration center will feature AMI, Smart Appliances, In Home Displays, Programmable Controllable Thermostats, Energy Optimization, and Renewable Energy technologies. This environment will give the opportunity to see real life demonstrations on the future of the energy industry through guided tours. The cost is $25 for ESD members. Nonmembers can join ESD for $54 and take the tour for free. The tour will cover DTE's SmartCurrents and smart grid programs, advanced smart meters, electric circuit upgrades, smart home appliances, energy efficiency, solar energy and plug-in electric vehicles. Macomb-OU INCubator Sets Two-Part Event On Funding: The Macomb-OU INCubator will host a two-part event featuring information on crowfunding and what investors want at the incubator, 6633 18 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. "Crowdfunding Litigation, Strategies and its Economic Impact" and "What Investors Really Want ... Other Than A Return on Their Investment" will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. This two-part event will be sandwiched with networking opportunities with the workshop leaders and investor panelists. The workshop will help participants understand what successful crowdfunding strategies look like and how to craft one. The panel discussion will give attendees an opportunity to ask questions about what investors are really looking for. The event is presented by the Great Lakes Entrepreneur's Quest. Panelists include Chris Seago of the Bizdom Accelerator Leadership Team; Joe Licavoli, Manager of Capital Programs at Ann Arbor Spark; Jack Ahrens, Managing Partner at TGap Ventures; and Remos Lenio, Managing Director, DWH.
