Oakland County Sets Emerging Sectors Cup Golf Outing: Oakland County Emerging Sectors is a business development initiative of Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. Emerging Sectors identifies the top growth sectors and fosters business development in areas including: Communication & Information Technology; Medical Main Street; Film & Digital Media; Defense & Homeland Security; and others. As the Pontiac Regional Chamber continues its mission of leading, connecting and innovating throughout Oakland County, the organization is spotlighting the opportunities recognized by the Emerging Sectors program during this year's annual golf event. During the golf outing, foursomes will compete for the new "Emerging Sectors Cup." The winning foursome will have their name and business sector engraved in the cup that will be highlighted annually. Golfers will enjoy 18 hole scramble play, light breakfast and networking at Pontiac Municipal Golf Course. A banquet will follow with brief presentations on business developments, prizes, food and drink, and the awarding of the Emerging Sectors Cup. Registration is currently open for interested golfers and sponsors. Reservations are also being accepted to those wishing to attend the banquet only. Innovate Michigan Summit coming: Join us at the Innovate Michigan Summit on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing, This is a full-day event featuring presentations from the 2012-13 MSU EDA University Center for Regional Economic Innovation project year. Learn about new innovative economic development tools, models, policies, practices and technical assistance projects. Registration will be capped at 150 attendees. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, 55 S. Harrison Road in East Lansing.Cost is $25 and includes lunch. Scholarships are available.
