MCWT Sets Mid-Michigan Event: Members and friends of the Michigan Council of Women in Technology are invited to network and hear about the future of technology in mid-Michigan Thursday, May 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lansing Country Club, 2200 Moores River Drive in Lansing. Jeff Mason, executive director of the University Research Corridor, will lead the discussion. The University Research Corridor is an alliance among Michigan State University, University of Michigan and Wayne State University to improve the understanding of the vital role these universities have played - and will play - in revitalizing the state's economy. Macomb-OU Covers Doing Business With The Feds: "The Legalities Of Doing Business With The Federal Government" will be held Thursday, May 9 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Macomb-OU INCubator at Velocity Collaboration Center, 6633 18 Mile Road, Sterling Heights. Butzel Long partner Bill Eshelman will provide practical information to those contracting the government as a prime or subcontractor. The presentation highlights include significant contrasts between commercial and federal acquisitions, the principal areas of federal contracting and related authority of federal personnel affecting each, common and potentially deadly areas of confusion and a few best practices. Eshelman holds a specialized law degree in government procurement from George Washington University in Washington D.C. In his more than four decades of legal practice, he has held responsible positions at the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals and several major federal agencies with responsibilities that include the full range of federal contracting. Most recently, Eshelman has been involved in major programs, as well as more routine subcontractor and supplier disputes. Michigan Defense Expo to feature latest, greatest military equipment, technology: Automation Alley, Michigan's largest technology business association, is a promotional partner for the 4th Annual National Defense Industry Association Michigan Defense Expo, taking place at the Macomb Community College Sports Expo Center in Warren, May 14 and 15. The expo is designed to showcase the latest and greatest capabilities the military has to offer. The expo includes more than 100 exhibitors and 61,000 square feet of vehicles, industry equipment and technology. New this year, the expo will include networking and business-building events.
