EV battery company Akosol to close its facilities in Hazel Park, Warren
A total of 188 jobs will be lost when EV battery company Akasol Inc. closes two Michigan facilities, according to a WARN notice filed with the state's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
The WARN act requires companies going through mass layoffs and / or site closures to issue advance public notice to the state's labor department, should that step meet certain requirements for the size of company or number of people involved.
"This closure is expected to be permanent and will affect all employees," the WARN letter filed Feb. 11 states.
The layoffs are expected to be effective April 14 for positions that include safety specialist, production supervisor, technical operator and assembly operator.
The Hazel Park facility at 1400 East 10 Mile Road, Suite 150, is in Oakland County.
The Warren facility at 23950 Mound Road, Suite 300, is in Wayne County.
There is no union representing the impacted employees, according to the WARN notice.
