ESD Hosts Spring Engineering & Tech Job Fair; 35 Firms, 1,200 Jobs So Far
SOUTHFIELD -- Michigan companies are hungry for qualified and skilled engineering and IT talent. With thousands of job openings and a dwindling pool of applicants, Michigan is in the midst of a critical engineering shortage.
On Monday, April 22, the Engineering Society of Detroit will host an engineering and technical job fair in an effort to help fill the pipeline with skilled employees. The event will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Suburban Collection Showplace on Grand River Avenue in Novi.
As of Wednesday, the job fair will host 35 companies offering more than 1,200 jobs. Some of the companies include DTE Energy, Guardian Industries, Magna Electronics, Sparrow Health Systems, U.S. Manufacturing, and many others.
The 2012 Fall ESD Job Fair attracted more than 65 companies and 4,500-plus job openings. Exhibit space is still available for those looking to hire for full, part-time or co-op positions and in various fields, including architecture; computer, chemical, civil, design, electrical, biomedial, aerospace, mechanical and manufacturing engineering; cybersecurity; computer programming; and other engineering and technical occupations.
Cost to attend the job fair is free to ESD members; non ESD members pay $10 if registered before April 15 (includes a one-year membership to ESD) or $15 if registered after April 15 (includes a one-year membership to ESD). Offer good for new first time members only.
