Enbridge Readies Test Of Ruptured Oil Pipeline
Enbridge Inc. says it's preparing to test a pipeline that ruptured last month and poured up to 1 million gallons of oil into the Kalamazoo River and other southern Michigan waterways.
Executive Vice President Steve Wuori said Thursday the federal government hasn't said when oil can resume flowing through the pipeline, which runs between Griffith, Ind., and Sarnia, Ontario.
He says the Canadian company first must conduct high-pressure tests in six sections that inspections have shown might be similar to the segment that failed July 26. Water will be pumped into a section of the line about a dozen miles long.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regional director Susan Hedman says all of Enbridge's cleanup plans have been approved.
