EMU Suspends Study Abroad Program In Japan
YPSILANTI (WWJ) - Eastern Michigan University has suspended its study abroad program in Japan and is helping 11 students return to the U.S. in the wake of growing concerns about the country's nuclear crisis.
Since the U.S. Department of State is assisting U.S. citizens who wish to leave Japan voluntarily and the Japan Center for Michigan Universities has ended the current semester of classes, EMU decided last Friday to suspend the program.
Students and their families have been notified electronically that EMU would assist the students in securing flights. EMU also will work with academic departments to help students complete the semester and earn academic credit.
