Eminem Opens Up About Prescription Drug Addiction
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit rapper Eminem is opening up about his drug addiction in a new documentary.
In a clip posted on YouTube, the performer, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, said he didn't believe he had a drug problem because the pills he was taking were prescription.
He talked about the effect of Vicodin.
"Everything was not only mellow, but (I) didn't feel any pain ... It just kind of numbed things," Mathers said. "I don't know at what point it started to be a problem, but I just started liking it more and more. People tried to tell me I had a problem."
Mathers said eventually Vicodin almost killed him.
"Had I have gotten to the hospital about two hours later, I would've died," he said. "My organs were shutting down ... my liver, kidneys, everything. They were gonna have to put me on dialysis — they didn't think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death."
Mathers' interview is from a controversial documentary titled, "How to Make Money Selling Drugs."
