Eminem, Jay-Z: Concert Of A Lifetime?
[photogallerylink id=24792 align=left]People from all over the world are heading to Downtown Detroit, for what many are calling the musical event of a life-time. Eminem and Jay-Z will play the first of two shows Thursday night at Comerica Park.
WWJ's Vickie Thomas reports from the ballpark that people from as far away as Seattle flew into Detroit and were standing in line early Thursday morning in hopes of getting the best view of the rappers.
"It's going to be absolute mayhem," Kaitlyn Essenmacher said. She flew in and was at Comerica Park at midnight. "I'm looking forward to seeing Eminem perform the most, I love Jay Z but Eminem is my ultimate."
She paid $250 for a ticket.
"It's going to be history in the making, we're going to see history in Detroit...and I'm glad to be a part of it," said a man who called himself MC JAV. His ticket was a birthday present.
There is talk that Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg might make an appearance, according to WWJ's sister station AMP Radio, 98.7 FM.
The home of the Detroit Tigers also will host the hip-hop heavyweights on Friday night. The concerts are sold out.
After the performances in Eminem's hometown, the duo will head to Jay-Z's city of New York, where they'll be at Yankee Stadium for concerts on Sept. 13-14.
People going to the concert may want to leave early because the Detroit Lions are playing at Ford Field, next door to Comerica Park, at 6:30 p.m.
