Election Day Results
DETROIT (WWJ) - How did election day turn out? Voters went to the polls Tuesday across Metro Detroit to weigh in on the issues. Here are some results:
In Livonia, public safety was on the minds of voters, who approved the Public Safety Charter Amendment by nearly three-to-one. If it had been defeated, Livonia could have lost as many as 40 staff members in the police department.
In Troy, the Public Library Operating Millage Proposal was approved by a 58% to 41% margin. If it had failed, the library would have closed this coming Friday (August 5th).
In Royal Oak Township, voters overwhelmingly approved two proposals. Proposal G was a General Operating Millage and Proposal P was a Millage Renewal Proposition.
In Madison Heights, voters said "yes" to the Operating Millage Renewal Proposal for the Lamphere Schools and they also approved the Building and Sinking Fund Millage Proposal.
In Center Line, 81% of voters said yes to the Public Safety Millage but they turned down the School Improvement Bond Proposition for the Center Line Public Schools.
In Warren, current Mayor Jim Fouts and candidate Kathy Vogt were the top two vote-getters, they'll face off in the November election. Fouts got 76% of the votes.
Inkster voters approved a proposal that would allow the city to spend 20-million dollars over 25 years for improvements to the city's sewer overflow system.
In Garden City, voters approved a millage to create a repair or construction fund. It passed by only six votes.
