Eastpointe Woman Killed In Head-On Crash With Semi
EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - A 62-year-old Eastpointe woman died in a crash Thursday morning in Mount Clemens.
The Macomb County Sheriff's office says the woman was driving a Buick LaCrosse on North River Road, near the I-94 overpass, when she crossed the center lane and crashed head on into a semi truck "head on."
According to preliminary reports, the driver of a Buick LaCrosse was travelling westbound on North River Road, just west of the Interstate 94 overpass when she crossed over the centerline and struck a semi tractor-trailer "head-on".
She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
the accident happened just before 9 a.m. Macomb Sheriff Deputies closed that portion of the roadway for over three hours as they investigated the incident, but all lanes have since reopened.
Sheriff's officials said it does not appear as if the woman was wearing a seatbelt.
Her name was not immediately released.
