Eastpointe Men Who Allegedly Mailed Drugs Arrested With Kilo Of Cocaine
EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Police say two Eastpointe men who used the mail to transport large quantities of illegal drugs were arrested with over a kilo of cocaine.
Claude Davis, 34, and Freddie Ross, 41, were arraigned this week in 39th District Court on multiple charges, including possession of cocaine with intent to deliver over 1000 grams, conspiracy to possess cocaine over 1000 grams, and felon in possession of a firearm. Both were ordered held in the Macomb County Jail on a $250,000 bond and are due back in court for a preliminary exam on May 22. If convicted as charged, they both face up to life in jail.
Police say their investigation was initiated by the U.S. Postal Service after they received information that a group of individuals was using the mail to transport large quantities of illicit narcotics to homes in Roseville and Eastpointe.
Through the cooperative investigative efforts, enough probable cause was established for the issuance of the warrants for the four homes in question.
Roseville Special Investigation Detectives and Special Agents of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service executed four separate warrants late Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning at the homes in question. Police say the raids netted four arrests, several thousand dollars in cash, a large variety of firearms, and miscellaneous illicit narcotics, along with a kilo of cocaine.
Two other suspects arrested in the course of the raids were released, but may be charged at a later time.
Police say their investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
