Eastpointe Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Wife, 2 Kids

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) — A Detroit-area man has pleaded guilty to killing his wife and two children.

Timothy Fradeneck pleaded guilty but mentally ill to first-degree murder Monday, which carries a life sentence and qualifies him for mental health care in prison.

His wife, Christie, and two children, ages 8 and 2, were found strangled last April at their Eastpointe home. Two psychologists say the 38-year-old Fradeneck suffers from significant depression.

Police say a USB cord was used to commit the murders.

Police visited his home after getting a phone call from a relative. Fradeneck opened the door and confessed to the killings.

Investigators say Timothy Fradeneck told them he planned to kill himself as well but failed. They report Fradeneck said he wanted his family dead "to spare them the heartache" of his death.
