Eastpointe Man Charged In Wife's Shooting Death

EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - The husband of an Eastpointe woman, found shot to death over the weekend, has been changed with second degree murder.

Anthony Webster, 46, pleaded not guilty in the death of 33-year-old Christina Lazzana-Webster, who was shot in the chest.

Her body was found Saturday afternoon after police were requested to check on her welfare.

Police said the couple, who together owned Big Top Popcorn in Eastpointe, had a history of violent arguments.

Anthony Webster's attorney, Randall Upshaw told the court there is no "smoking gun" to connect his client to the murder. But police said there are guns -- 18 of them -- registered to Anthony Webster, including one that we found in the couple's driveway.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeil asked Upshaw about that.

"A lot of people go to the different gun shows and they buy weapons, and they might plan on selling weapons after the laws change," Upshaw said. "I don't know. I'd have to guess like anyone else."

Upshaw said he doesn't yet have any information as to what that gun was doing in the driveway.

Bond for Anthony Webster was set at $500,000. He's due back in court next Tuesday.
