Drunken Driving Suspected In Fatal Cadillac Vs. Motorcycle Crash

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Authorities suspect alcohol played a role in a fatal Cadillac/motorcycle crash this week in Pontiac.

A 24-year-old Detroit man died in the accident that happened Wednesday evening in the area of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Chandler.

According to Oakland County Sheriff's officials, Lawrence Windham was traveling northbound on Martin Luther King Blvd. on his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle when, as he approached the Chandler intersections, a 2003 Cadillac turned into his path.

Windham was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 62-year-old Pontiac man, was uninjured. He was taken to the same hospital for a blood draw, under a search warrent, to determine if he was drunk at the time of the crash. His name has not been released.

Sheriff's officials said Windham was wearing a helmet but was operating without a cycle endorsement.

A crash reconstruction unit is assisting deputies from the Pontiac substation as an investigation continues.
