Drop off Your 'Treats For Troops' In Oakland County
ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - Do you like candy? So do our troops serving overseas.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard is offering a chance to give some of it away for a good cause.
Oakland County is once again collecting candy to send to troops from Michigan who are serving abroad. Bouchard said the candy can be dropped off after Halloween at the Pontiac headquarters and seven other locations.
"I know, from a lot of my friends that have been deployed, that have been in-country when they get candy," Bouchard said "That's one of the things that they enjoy most: getting some of the sweet stuff from home."
Bouchard said they will accept anything but chocolate, because it might melt.
The drop off will take place Nov. 1-4.
"I'm a sweet-a-holic," Bouchard joked. "I'm a partial guy for the Brach's Candy Corn. You've got Skittles, you've got a host of things that that make it over there in good shape and form and are fun for them to have."
If you choose to participate, donations will be accepted at eight Oakland County Sheriff's Office locations:
