Dozens Line Up In Cold Temps To Get Limited Edition 'Space Jam' Jordan Sneakers
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Fans of the Air Jordan Space Jam shoes lined up in the blistering cold hours before the Elite Mr. Alan's store in Detroit opened on Saturday.
The limited edition Air Jordan XI sneakers -- the shoes Michael Jordan wore in the 1996 movie Space Jam -- flew off the shelves at the 8 Mile Road and Woodward location.
Jacob Bishop with Elite says the $220 shoes is a "beautiful piece of art."
"The Space Jam Jordan -- this is the actual shoe that Michael Jordan wore in the movie Space Jam, so we're super excited," Bishop told WWJ Newsradio 950's Laura Bonnell.
The shoes were sold on a first-come, first-serve bases. Other editions of the shoes were released in 2000 and 2009.
The new edition features a "premium construction with a higher patent leather cut, subtle concord accents and MJ's number 45 stitched on the heel."
The shoes are sold out online.
