Downed Trees, Power Outages After Storms
DETROIT (WWJ) - The latest round of storms over southeast Michigan brought power outages, hail and plenty of downed trees across the area.
WWJ's Ron Dewey reports the DTE Energy Outage Map is still showing scattered outages, mainly in Oakland County.
DTE's Len Singer told WWJ Thursday morning there were about 20,000 homes and businesses without power. Singer said they hope to have the power restored by midnight Thursday.
Meantime, families are clearing the storm's wreckage from their yards.
In Inkster, a powerline fell into a backyard after part of a tree snapped on top of it. Several Mount Clemens residents are reporting downed trees and several lightning strikes. No injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service issued thunderstorm watches and warnings in several counties across the area and even issued a Tornado Watch for all of Southeast Michigan Wednesday night.
