Don't Forget A Ticket! Powerball Jackpot Reaches $485 Million
LANSING (WWJ) - Someone in metro Detroit could be very, very rich after Wednesday's near-record breaking Powerball lottery drawing.
The jackpot is up to $485 million -- the largest Powerball jackpot in the past 12 months. The cash option for Wednesday's jackpot is nearly $328 million.
Jackpot-fever is prompting a lot of daydreaming for Michigan Lottery players who are asking themselves "what if?" they win Wednesday's prize.
If a Michigan player wins the $485 million Powerball jackpot, it would be the largest lottery prize ever won in the state. Donald Lawson, of Lapeer, won a $337 million Powerball jackpot on Aug. 15, 2012. Lawson's jackpot holds the record for the largest lottery prize ever won in Michigan.
Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Powerball tickets for $2 each until 9:45 p.m. Wednesday. The drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m.
