Domestic Autos Still Lag Behind Imports
DETROIT (WWJ) - Consumer Reports magazine's annual car issue shows Japanese automakers still rule when it comes to quality and customer satisfaction, with Honda, Subaru and Toyota taking the top three slots. But Ford comes in at number five, after Volvo.
Jonathan Linkov is autos managing editor for Consumer Reports: "Ford as a manufacturers continues to make gains...they are right up there as far as reliability goes with the Asian manufactures."
But the news isn't all good for the domestics; General Motors ranks near the bottom of the pack, and Chrysler finished dead last in the survey.
While Honda, Subaru and Toyota are numbers one, two and three in quality according to Consumer Reports, Ford is now fifth (Volvo is fourth).
The bad news; GM ranks near the bottom of the list, and Chrysler is tied with Mercedes at dead last.
