Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross Says He Hopes To Mentor Suh; Warren Buffett Called Him 'A Good Kid'

PHOENIX - Securing a deal with All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was the first priority this offseason for both the Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins came away the winners of the Suh sweepstakes, and team owner Stephen Ross said Monday he has been impressed with Suh, not only as a player but as a person.
"It was as important [for us to get him] as it was Detroit trying to keep him," Ross said at the owners meetings. "He's a hell of a ball player. The nicest thing about him, that I'm finding out, many people have told me, as great a ball player as he is, he's a better person. Just in my first meetings with him and getting to know him, he certainly comes across as a very impressive guy."
Ross said he hopes to be a mentor to Suh, who has been open about his business ambitions - including a goal to one day be a billionaire - and has a friendship with billionaire Warren Buffett.
"When word got out that he was coming to Miami, Warren Buffett called me ... [to] congratulate me and tell me what a good kid he was," Ross said. "I think he's mentoring him, and I love mentoring young guys. That's how I built my company, and with a guy the character that he has and the opportunities that he'll have, it's kind of fun to work with a guy like that."
