Does County Executive Have Eye On The Top Spot In Michigan?
MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - Is the executive of Macomb County eyeing a run for governor?
There are some rumors swirling that Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel has an interest in becoming Michigan governor -- but Hackel tells WWJ that a run in 2014 is not on the horizon - his current plan is to rerun as County Executive.
But Hackel is not ruling out a run in the future.
So what does he want to see from the next Michigan governor?
"It's got to be based upon who's got a plan, there is a job description for the governor, the county executive for every elected official ... are they going to adhere to that responsibility and what are they going to do if they win that election - with the direction? So, for me any candidate that wants my support or vote, more importantly, has to have a plan for what they want to do," said Hackel.
Hackel says his focus right now is the county and continuing to move it forward.
