Dodgers 6, Tigers 1

LOS ANGELES (WWJ/AP) - The Tigers tied the game in the top of the fourth and then never reappeared offensively, as Detroit loses to the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 on Tuesday night.

As heard on 97.1 The Ticket the Tigers had opportunities to score but never connected in a night were they could have tied for first place with the Cleveland Indians who also lost Tuesday.

Chad Billingsley bounced back from two horrendous outings, Andre Ethier hit a two-run homer and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Detroit Tigers 6-1 on Tuesday night, preventing Max Scherzer from becoming the first 10-game winner in the majors.

Billingsley (6-6) allowed a run and six hits over 5 1-3 innings - the first time in four starts that he made it past the fifth. The right-hander struck out six, walked two and left with a 4-1 lead after loading the bases with a walk to Alex Avila.

Pinch-hitter Miguel Cabrera grounded into an inning-ending double play on Mike MacDougal's second pitch.

The Dodgers have won three straight following a five-game losing streak. Scherzer (9-3) gave up six runs and nine hits in six innings
