Bicyclist Killed On I-75 Entrance Ramp
LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) - A fatal accident involving a bicycle had a northbound I-75 entrance ramp closed for hours Tuesday morning Downriver.
Michigan State Police say a Detroit man riding his bike on Dix Highway was hit by a pickup truck. According to investigators, the victim was crossing the road when he was hit. The pickup truck driver, who is from Wyandotte, stopped and was talking with police.
Police blocked off traffic from Dix Highway ramp to northbound I-75 for nearly four hours as they investigated the accident.
WWJ's Bill Szumanski was over the scene in Lincoln Park in the LaFontaine Cadillac Buick GMC Chopper.
"I'm not really sure what happened here but what we do see is a mangled bicycle laying on the side of the road and adjacent to that, maybe another five feet or so up the ramp, what looks like a body," Szumanski said.
