Did Bird Cause Wing Walker's Death?
MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - The investigation into the weekend death of an aerial stunt man at the Selfridge Air Show is focusing on a bird.
WWJ's Ron Dewey reports that an amateur video shows a large bird passing the upper wing of the plane where wing walker Todd Green was trying to reach a helicopter flying above.
The video -- shot by Mt. Clemens resident Mike Robinson -- does not show whether the bird struck Green or the aircraft. But, it raises questions as to whether it could have been enough of a distraction.
Robinson tells the Macomb Daily that a Selfridge official who viewed the video was astounded to see the bird, said to be about the size of a hawk.
Officials are also trying to determine if wind could also have been a factor.
