DIA Showcases Images From Imagination
A new exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Arts focuses on images from artists' imaginations shown in prints from the last 500 years.
"In Your Dreams: 500 Years of Imaginary Prints'' goes on view today and runs through January 2, 2011. It features more than 135 European and American prints from artists such as Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Marc Chagall.
Nancy Sojka is the DIA's curator of prints, drawings and photographs. She says it's fascinating to see how artists imaginatively express ideas about religion, politics, literature, social justice and the human soul.
The exhibition is free with museum admission.
