DIA Extends Hours For Popular Exhibit

DETROIT (WWJ) - The DIA is extending its weekend hours to give more people a chance to see the Rembrandt Face of Jesus exhibit.

Pam Marcill, a spokeswoman for the DIA, says a series of sold-out days prompted the move.

"We needed to extend the hours because we don't want people to be frustrated and the tendency is to really wait until the last-minute, and I don't know if it is human nature but it happens every time we have a very popular exhibition," said Marcill. "So, we encourage people to try to do this in advance and not wait."

For the next four weekends, the Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 pm, and even longer on the first two Saturdays of February-- it will stay open until 10 pm then.

"One thing we've been trying to emphasis is for people to purchase tickets in advance and if you go online and purchase your tickets you can print them out and at least save time waiting in the admission line," adds Marcill.

February 12th will be the last day for the exhibition. The extended hours will run through then and the museum will be open even longer the first two Saturdays in February-- until 10 pm.
