Detroit's Best Scary Haunted Houses


There's only one way to properly celebrate Halloween season. It involves being scared.And luckily for you, metro Detroit has more than its share of spooky places to enjoy in October. Here are some of our favorites. So wait until dark, grab your bravest pals and get in line.

Erebus-4 Story Haunted Attraction

The king of haunted houses in metro Detroit can be found in downtown Pontiac, where four-stories of terror await all comers. Find Erebus in the Guinness Book of World Records for World's Largest Walk-Through Haunted House from 2005-09. Admission is $23.

Fear Factory at the Gibraltar Trade Center

Experience Michigan's largest vortex tunnel when you visit Fear Factory, billed as 25,000 square feet of pure terror. It takes up to 40 minutes to get through the whole thing, which means you're getting your money's worth. Tickets are $13. Doors open at 7 p.m. and you may want to get in line early. They close when they run out of body bags.

St. Lucifer's Haunted Asylum

Playing on the theme of an abandoned mental asylum, St. Lucifer's has wailing patients, abandoned wheelchairs, gouged-eye nurses, electroshock therapy rejects, and underground tunnels. Tickets are $15 for the main haunted house and $15 for the underground tunnels. Combo tickets are $22 Thursday and Sunday and $25 Friday and Saturday.

The Realm of Darkness

Is it really haunted? You be the judge, but according to their website the grounds are haunted by "real ghosts and other distant beings." This haunted place comes with a backstory. According to staff, a wizard lives here who has claimed souls for centuries. You're invited to beat the wizard. But beware, it's not easy. Admission is $20.

Voted No. 1 in actor's performance, this site at Hampton Golf Course boasts "psychotic serial killers" around every corner.

Be aware, they're known to "torment anyone who crosses their path." Children under 13 are now allowed without a parent. Admission is $16.

Experience more than 115 live monsters at this place that masquarades during the day as a sedate apple orchard and pumpkin patch. At night it turns into "Night Terrors" with attractions including the Labyrinth haunted maze, Alien Caged Clowns, The Mined Shaft, Hayride of the Lost, The Ultimate Haunted Barn, and The Asylum. Lots of scary things are involved. Single ticket admission is $16.
